POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provide paralegal support to the Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure Management division and Cardiac and Vascular Group.

The paralegal in this position drafts, reviews, and modifies agreements such as Medical Device Product Sales, Business Associate Agreements, technology, services, supply, consulting, confidentiality agreements. This role also reviews advertising and promotional materials. The role involves frequent contact with business personnel to gather information, clarify objectives, and assess compliance with legal and corporate policies. It requires excellent writing and other communication skills, and a high level of responsiveness to business personnel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Draft contracts and other written documents.

+ Assist with and conduct contract negotiations.

+ Ensure contract terms are consistent with Medtronic policies and with legal and regulatory advice.

+ Act as liaison to business personnel, responding to routine questions and, where necessary, seeking feedback from additional resources needed to respond to questions.

+ Work closely with business functions to understand their needs and streamline legal processes.

+ Provide training/education to business clients on Medtronic’s agreement processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

+ BS/BA Degree

+ Paralegal Certificate

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

+ 5+ years Paralegal experience or contract management work experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

+ Contract drafting experience

+ Experience working directly with business clients

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Medical Device or Medical Insurance industry experience a plus

+ In-house law department experience preferred

+ Experience drafting, reviewing, modifying and negotiating a wide variety of agreement types.

+ Experience negotiating contracts.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and establish priorities.

+ Ability to work as part of a team.

+ Experience with web-based systems

+ Excellent written/oral communication skills

+ Excellent customer service skills

+ Excellent analytical and decision making skills

+ Excellent organizational skills
