The main purpose of this role is to manage and support the sales staff to achieve the annual business objectives of Medtronic Pain Therapies Interventional portfolio. Its jobholder ensures a continuous development of the sales process in close collaboration with his peers as well as line manager and plays an active role in the German leadership team of Pain Therapies. He/she will be responsible to maximize Pain Therapies Interventional growth and profitability through achieving targets within the assigned regions and with the assigned team. This includes developing long-term sustainable profitable business in the country with a reasonable expenses management, making sure that his/her team develops new business and defends existing business

**A Day in the Life**

**Team Management**

+ Manage, develop and support all direct reports within the team.

+ Continuously coach and train the dependent structure with clear objectives.

+ Promote an effective communication flow within the managed team. Ensure that all necessary information (commercial and none commercial) are properly transferred to the sale forces.

+ Ensure that relevant data and information are collected on the market and properly communicated within the organization.

+ Deploy and execute clear governance in alignment with the wider Pain Therapies and RTG Businesses to support and drive salesforce excellence.Ensure clear objectives and development plans are in place and followed up with all reports

+ Effectively manage performance within the team and identify talent

**Budget Management**

+ Agree with management sales and profitability targets for the managed product lines and ensure their achievement through the dependent structure.

+ Organize the sales force in the most effective and efficient way in order to ensure the achievement of defined objectives. Periodically verify, together with the team, its adequacy to the business objectives as well as propose and implement the necessary changes.

+ Define together with Line Manager, and in line with Company’s guidelines, the most effective commercial strategies to be applied in the territory to achieve the sales and profitability targets assigned.

**Customer Management**

+ Achieve agreed budgets, focused on sales growth and gross profit target achievement.

+ Implement price strategy in the country. Manage customer profitability effectively.

+ Coach and guidance of his / her team in preparing presentations, proposals and sales contracts.

+ Ensure accurate customer and account segmentation and appropriateness of time spent by activity to maximize opportunities and revenue growth

**Business Development**

+ Take the lead in defining and coaching the required selling activities in the territory. Coordinate with other parts of RTG and/or MDT where meaningful.

+ Initiate broader purchasing agreement and account conversion when required

+ Maintain the territory Business Dashboard and appropriate Business Plans for the territory.

+ Ensure execution of action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the contacts made by the team.

+ Responsible for creating and maintaining networks with important key opinion leaders necessary for the success of the business. It is also the District Sales Manager’s role to bring extra value to opinion leader contacts.

+ Ensure an efficient and effective way of working of his /her team with the Purchasing Managers/ Hospitals Managers for the territory in order to maximize business opportunities.

+ Taking a wide organisational view of selling and managing accounts, with sufficient knowledge of competitors and their products

+ Challenge the status quo and proactively look for new opportunities to build and strengthen our value proposition to engage customer’s with Medtronic Pain Therapies Interventional business.

**Support Training**

+ Demonstrate to his/her team effective use of all sales tools ( ) and materials provided to identify and develop real prospects to ensure sales targets are achieved.

+ Updated status of reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals.

+ Coordinate the activities of the sales team to accomplish all work required to close sales in a timely manner

**Must Haves**

+ Business or Healthcare related (medical or scientific) degree or its equivalent.

+ Preferably 5 years’ minimum experience in a sales management role, ideally in the medical device industry, Healthcare pharma, Life Sciences, or similar - with a proven track record at driving growth and developing high performing teams

+ Able to demonstrate with clear evidence strong business/commercial acumen based on experience of working in challenging markets where innovative approaches are required to win business and take market share.

+ Knowledge of the decision making process essential and experience of selling to high level clinical and non-clinical customers

+ Preferably experience in sales of both disposables and capital equipment, but not essential

+ Experience of negotiations with (financial) stakeholders

+ Proven ability to influence and develop relationship with both senior internal and external stakeholders, as well as key decision makers at senior level

+ A positive person with strong entrepreneurial skills who brings passion, energy and excellence in execution to his/her work

+ Evidence of a willingness and ability to challenge the status quo.

+ Strong leadership and influence skills at all levels of the business.

+ Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

+ German mother tongue with good verbal and written communication skills in English.

+ Comfortable with approx. 80% travel.
