**BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER MITG/IHS BENELUX, SWITZERLAND, AND AUSTRIA**

They partner with hospital management teams and payers to drive complex transformational change, implement innovative growth strategies, streamline patient-focused care pathways and optimize operations.

**A Day in the Life**

The business development manager builds, maintains and develops overall Medtronic MITG business relationships with existing and new customers. Acts as the business liaison and relationship manager for some of our largest and key hospital customers. Interfaces on C-suite senior management level (incl. Board of Directors and occasionally on regional or country political level) within our customers’ organizations. Owns, develops and executes account specific strategic sales action plans targeted at successfully selling transformational managed services. Identifies and executes on profitable managed service business opportunities.

Main Job Duties / Responsibilities:

+ Leads the account targeting process.

+ Analyses individual target accounts in depth, identifies key decision makers in each account, and develops and maintains an effective account planning strategy.

+ Manages a pipeline of targeted accounts with the aim to lock strategic long term contractual commitments for managed services.

+ Builds, maintains, and develops strong and lasting business relationships with all key decision makers (incl. C-suite, senior management, purchasers in hospitals) in all targeted accounts.

+ Initiates, engages and leads strategic project initiatives in order to create economic value for our largest customers through the offering of managed services.

+ Mobilizes Medtronic’s internal organization to serve the largest key accounts in the best possible way: tailors service to their specific requirements where needed and embeds this in the internal organization.

+ Leads strategically important commercial projects: develops and test-runs new Medtronic MITG business models, pilots service offerings and/or work on specific strategic customer projects.

+ Initiates and lead account meetings. Work closely with other Medtronic sales and field force personnel.

**Must Haves**

+ Master’s degree and/or deep healthcare market knowledge especially within surgical environment.

+ Fluency in English, knowledge of Dutch, French, and/or German language will be an additional benefit.

+ Lean 6 sigma a plus.

+ Experience in selling large scale strategic transformational outsourcing services.

+ Experience in leading complex negotiations for multi-year agreements.

+ At least 5 years business development experience of large scale contracts and used to dealing with hospital C-suite/senior management, or equivalent experience in hospital board room consultancy, or has worked in health insurance industry in similar role interfacing with hospital executives at senior level.

+ Leading bid teams in public tenders.

+ Thorough knowledge of the decision making process within hospitals (physicians, C-suite, economic buyer).

+ Thorough knowledge of characteristics of care-pathways and care cycles, as well as hospitals and health economics.

+ Experience on key account management is a plus.

+ Skills Competencies:

+ Excellent skills in project management to handle complex financial deal and develop new solutions and services opportunities.

+ Solid market analysis and strategic thinking.

+ Excellent networking, communication and presentation skills, leading to results through influence.

+ Ability to work with all levels of the organization, internally and externally, in particular in working in a matrix organization.

+ Strong customer and business focus.

+ Good knowledge of the business drivers and trends within medical device business.

+ Ability to identify potential business opportunities and to execute for results.

+ An extended knowledge of the hospital supply chain and support functions.

+ Understanding of the healthcare systems in any of the target markets is a plus.

+ Knowledge of healthcare economics and reimbursement systems.

+ Extended knowledge and understanding of the European tender laws and how to build a strategy around tendering for operating room managed services.

+ International experience and cross-cultural competencies, ideally in markets similar to the region

+ This position requires significant travel within the region (50% plus). Ideally, the candidate would be based in one of our offices in the region (Eindhoven, Brussels, Berne, Vienna), but other locations with good connections into the region are also thinkable.
